XTM Connect – Adobe Experience Manager 2.4.0 has arrived!

The XTM Adobe Experience Manager Connector enables users to streamline their localization process with smart automation. In just a few clicks, content managers can send multimedia files, such as web pages with images, for translation and receive these back automatically as soon as they’re ready. Leveraging the proprietary XTM page exporter for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), linguists can access an advanced visual mode in-context functionality which provides context to their localization projects.

With XTM Connect – AEM 2.4.0, we’re introducing improvements to continuous localization as well as improvements to our API and file-naming capabilities.

Smarter continuous localization

Improved process for archived projects

XTM Connect – AEM’s continuous localization functionality has been extended to support archived projects, enabling users to add files to existing translation projects even if they have been archived. Previously, when translation requesters were adding content to an existing project which was already recently archived, a new project would have been created in XTM Cloud. Now, when a new file gets added, the project will automatically be reactivated and updated with the latest assets added. This is of particular importance for content that gets updated on a continuous basis, such as web pages.

For instance, a new landing page is created for a marketing campaign. Once the content is created and approved in English, the content owner creates a translation project directly in AEM, which automatically gets sent to XTM Cloud. The deadline is set for the following week. A few weeks after the deadline, a couple of new paragraphs get added to the landing page. Although the project has been completed already, and archived after a couple of weeks, the content owner is still able to send the new sentences to the existing translation project, as XTM Connect will automatically reactivate it.

This ensures that everything is kept in one place, providing better leveraging and additional context for linguists. Plus, this makes tracking and management easier, and removes the need for XTM Cloud PMs to coordinate a new translation project from scratch. Overall, this new functionality enables all stakeholders to benefit from shorter turnaround times as well as an optimized localization process, since there is no need for any manual intervention when a project scope changes due to new content.

Automated detection of content changes

For those using AEM as a Cloud Service, content changes can now automatically be detected and sent for translation in XTM Cloud, ensuring linguists are always working off the latest assets. This provides added flexibility, productivity and peace of mind for content owners, who can trust that translation projects are continuously updated without having to wonder how their changes will impact any ongoing translation projects.

This way, when a content owner updates product pages in English for instance, the changes are automatically detected, and new source files are sent to the XTM project. As such, when the project is finished, new translations are automatically imported to AEM, ensuring localized content is always up to date, and aligned with the source version. 

Other improvements include the ability to configure file names sent to XTM Cloud for translation, enabling users to choose between the default name or using the full file path depending on what suits them better; as well as a transition from SOAP to REST API, which will introduce performance and scalability improvements.
